After re-reading my first Webcomics Shout Out posted earlier today, I felt that I should mention a few more webcomics that I read, but have dramatically different artistic styles.

Let’s start with Penny and Aggie. P&A is wrtitten by T Campbell and originally illustrated by Gisèle Lagacé but currently by Jason Waltrip (May 2009-Present). For about as long as I’ve read online comics I think I’ve been aware of T Campbell’s work, but only in the past two years did I start reading Penny and Aggie and Fans.  My mistake was immediately noticed as I was then forced to go back to the beginning of the archives and start reading the entire five year run. I should have been reading this much sooner. I was immediately impressed by the clean, crisp lines of Gisèle’s art style, and I’m happy to see that Jason’s art is holding to the high standard set by Gisèle.

I’m currently following T’s serialized twitter feed re-reading of DC Comics’ “Crisis on Infinite Earths“. It has been a few years since I’ve read the giant crossover series and it has been nice reading along with the tweets containing T’s unique comments page by page. Pull out your old copy or pick up a new copy and follow along.

Next up is The System by Rosscott, Inc. Using a very simple art style consisting of the stick figure icons like you would find in instruction manuals and on restroom doors. You would think something like this would get old very fast but instead I find myself returning at every update and getting a good laugh.

And my final shout-out of the day goes to Tauhid Bondia of “Good Ship Chronicles” a sci-fi tale told as a reality style documentary of the crew of the good ship SS Gossamer. I’ve enjoyed Tauhid’s art style and writing since first seeing it in the now defunct “Spells and Whistles” strip years ago. He has a very clean line and a terrific look to his strips and the writing is always top-notch.

So there you go, three more strips for your reading pleasure that should immediately find their ways to your favorites list. But you don’t have to take my word for it…

Today I’d like to give a shout out to two of my favorite webcomic creators.

First, Brad Guigar of Evil, Inc. and Courting Disaster. I started reading Brad’s work back when he was drawing Greystone Inn. It ran from February 14, 2000 until May 2005. In one of the smoothest moves I’ve seen online comics he transitioned from the ending Greystone Inn to the new Evil, Inc. seamlessly and has continued to grow. The recent addition of Ed Ryzowski’s colors has really made the strip pop off the page. If you’re not already reading it, start today.

The second creator I’d like to mention today is Howard Tayler of Schlock Mercenary. I was aware of this strip for many years before I started reading it regularly. After meeting Howard at SPX ‘07 I went back to work and immediately read through the entire archives. Granted this took a few days as the strip has been running continuously seven days a week since June 12, 2000 with no missed updates, and recently celebrated its NINTH anniversary. I can’t imagine that kind of dedication to my own strips. When does this guy sleep? Apparently he does this mysterious thing called “working ahead”. I’ll have to check into that.
